Quick Info on the giant HEDGE MAZE under construction

A lot of our customers remember that our first giant maze attraction was a 120,000 sqm living field of mielies that housed nearly 3 kilometers of internal pathways. The first Maize Maze in Africa!

Well, having done this 17 times we have decided to replace this with a permanent living hedge maze. The main reason for this decision was the limited lifespan of a mielie field and the changes in the Joburg weather pattern.

Our new Giant Hedge Maze will occupy the field previous used for our Maize Mazes. The initial design has been laid out and planted up with 4,000 hedge plants. We will feed and nuture this installation to optimise its rapid growth and densification, and post updates on its development. We hope to open this attraction to the public towards the end of 2026.

Plants Selected for the Giant Hedge Maze

We have chosen Freylinia Tropica (both white and blue flowers), Abelia (white flowers) and Cape Honeysuckle (both orange and yellow flowers). This should make for a colourful hedge maze with all plants flowering at least twice a year.
